CCC launches
short film "Haitian Paintings: The Land - The People - The
History"
In observance of the International
Year to Commemorate the Struggle Against Slavery and its
Abolition, the General Secretary of the Caribbean Conference
of Churches (CCC), is pleased to invite you to the premiere
screening of the CCC short film, "Haitian Paintings:
The Land - The People - The History". The screening will be held at the First Floor Seminar Room
of the National Library in Port of Spain on Wednesday, July
28, 2004 starting at 6:00 p.m. and followed by cocktails.
Haitian Paintings is an expression of the CCC's ongoing
commitment to accompany the churches and the people of Haiti
in their struggles for freedom and self-reliance.
A CCC-led team visited Haiti in
November 2003 with a view to understanding Haiti better
and sharing those perspectives with others. During that
visit, the team interviewed many influential persons and
organizations in Haiti . Independent film producer, Ernest "Che" Rodriguez weaves those discussions
into a narrative on Haiti told by Haitians abroad and at
home - and by regional experts.
Diverse themes are explored including leadership, politics,
democracy, the role of religion in Haiti 's development and
her relationships with CARICOM neighbours.
